Isabella Bastardo Jiménez Remembered After Prince Edward Island School Bus Collision Near Dunstaffnage On May 21, 2026
Prince Edward Island communities mourn Isabella Bastardo Jiménez, a beloved teen who passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, after a school bus-related collision near Dunstaffnage.
Shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, Isabella prepared to board a school bus on Route 2, about 13 kilometres east of Charlottetown, when a tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction hit Isabella.
The bus had activated flashing yellow warning lights as it prepared to stop, and emergency responders gave urgent care before an airlift took Isabella to Halifax for specialized treatment.
The Latinos Association of P.E.I. confirmed the loss, and Isabella’s parents shared gratitude through City Impact Church for support from the community, IWK Health Centre, and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
City Impact Church held a service at the University of Prince Edward Island, while counseling support and family assistance efforts continue as the RCMP reviews the circumstances.
